What is Breast Augmentation Surgery?
Breast augmentation surgery involves using breast implants or fat. To increase the size of your breasts or restore breast volume that has been lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. Breast augmentation is clinically referred to as augmentation mammoplasty.
Breast implants may also be used for breast reconstruction after mastectomy or injury.

What breast augmentation surgery would do?
-
Increase fullness and projection of your breasts
-
Improve the balance of your figure
-
Enhance your self-image and self-confidence
What breast augmentation surgery won't do
Breast augmentation does not correct severely drooping breasts. If you want your breasts to look fuller and to be lifted due to sagging, a breast lift may be required in conjunction with breast augmentation.
Breast lifting can often be done at the same time as your augmentation or may require a separate operation. Your plastic surgeon will assist you in making this decision.

Breast or Bust Enhancement / Enlargement / Augmentation:
WHAT IS NORMAL?
-
Breasts are symmetric. The left side is usually larger than the right.
-
Nipple is well above the fold and points outward. The skin color around the nipple (areola) usually takes up less than one-third of the breast surface.
-
Size is subjective. The breast usually reaches the sixth rib. Average volume would be a B or C cup.
-
Overtly small or large breast can pose a problem for the person concerned.
Type of Breast Implants
Else ABNORMAL
We use silicon gel implants; under general anaesthesia and it takes around 1½ hours. You are discharged the same day and stay for 4-5 days in the city. The size of implants vary from 150 to 600 ml. normally.
Surgeons are able to increase a woman's bust line by one or more bra cup sizes. Chest wall size and the amount of loose skin dictate the size of implant. A woman can normally breast feed after implant.
Surgical Approach:
Breast enlargement is a simple cosmetic surgery procedure, whereby a small incision is made, through which the breast implant will be inserted and positioned. Three kinds of incision can be made: periareolar, (surrounding the areola), axillary, (at underarm level) or inframammary (under the breast). In all cases, the incision is very small, so that the resulting scar is minimally visible.
The plastic surgeon creates a cavity where the breast implants will be placed, either directly under the mammary tissue or under the pectoral muscle. The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia.
Periareolar
The dark circular area surrounding the nipple is the areola – This incision is from 30’ clock to 90’ clock position. These scars heal better than the surrounding breast skin.
Inframammary –
This incision is made in the crease below the breast. The dissection for the augmentation does not go through the breast tissue. Most commonly used incision.
Transaxillary –
The incision is made in the underarm. Chances of infection are increased due to the armpits.
Type of breast implant’s placement :
Submuscular augmentation done when there is no sagging
Subglandular augmentation –
This placement is advised for women, whose breasts are slightly pendulous. Implants can be placed slightly lower, getting the implants behind the nipple.
